I Heart Faces Challenge

I can't understand why my pictures look so awful on blogger. I've never noticed it before, but it's awful. On my home computer they are awesome and bright and tack-sharp... be aware that I may be switching blogs to wordpress.

The challenge for this week was a pouting 'face'.

Immediately I knew the picture I was going to post. This is my best friend's (read sister by choice) daughter, miss "M". I took this just the other night in front of the black sheet with some lights. I couldn't believe how good this turned out!

I really love this site!!! It's so much fun. And there are tons of talented people on there.

I'm still working on my photography site, but as soon as I have it going, I'll let you know.

Snow Day!!!

First let me just say:

IT ACTUALLY SNOWED!!!!!!!

I just can't believe it!!! It really snowed. A good snow. First the first time in two years we got a great snow!

I am so happy, can you tell?

Baby girl didn't like it yesterday, but today for some reason she was a little happier to be out there. She loved eating it. She couldn't fit into her snow suit that Grandma Tiger bought her,
I was so bummed. So she had to make due with Hunter's hand me downs... 3T coat and camo pants, which was bitter-sweet to see. I can't believe that he has already grown up so much. He just came in soaking wet from playing in a snow-ball fight with the neighbor kids.

Sorry, I think I went a little picture crazy!!!

(I also used a photoshop action to boost the colors in these from Pioneer Woman)

I'm so sorry for the picture overload, couldn't help myself!

Well I'm off to make some shrimp etouffee. Yummy!

More posts on the way!

I have sooo gotta sew!!!

I LOVE THE BLOG WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I do, I really do. So many resources for photography and awesome people to meet. It's better than real life people. Well, almost better. Since posting the blog challenge just a few minutes ago, I have found another lady at Art From the Heart that has awesome giveaways going on right now. I entered the drawing for the dress and the hat.

I hope this is me in a few more months. Just another happy photographer blogger hosting giveaways and posting more of my awesome pictures. I feel so inspired and even more driven to pursue my dream!

In the mean time, I have got to get my rear in gear and get some things sewn. I can do it, I just got to do it!

"BE WITH THOSE THAT BETTER YOUR BEING"

A NEW BLOG CHALLENGE...

A friend sent me this site a few weeks ago. I checked it out once, but 'didn't fully get-it"... Now I do.

Every week a 'photo challenge' is posted. There is a kids and adults section. Your pictures have to follow the guidelines. THIS week is #11, and you had to post a photo with no flash.

I understand that they are judged and winners are announced.

So my adult, my hubby of course.

And my baby, being my scouting buddy while out taking pictures of horses and cows.

I think I could get addicted to this!

I hate MONDAYS!!!!

This is just a taste of my Monday. Join me if you care to...

  • I hate RUDE AND DEMANDING PEOPLE (can't specify)
  • I hate THAT THE DRUG REP TRIED TO LET ME KNOW I HAD SOMETHING IN MY TEETH, AND I DIDN'T GET IT!
  • I hate STANDING IN LINE FOR 30 MINUTES AT SUBWAY, ONLY TO NOT BE SATISFIABLE FULL. When is dinner time?
  • I hate BEING DOOPED.
  • I hate HIATAL HERNIAS.
  • I hate THAT MY DR. PEPPER TASTED SO GOOD TODAY. I was doing so good.
  • I hate THAT MY WEEKEND IS GONE.
  • I hate "GREEN LIZARDS". But I love that it makes the hiatal hernia feel better.
  • I hate BEING SO BUSY.
  • I hate DIRTY TANNING BEDS!

  • I hate MONDAYS!!!!!

I may start this tradition EVERY Monday, sure makes me feel better. Feel free to post what you hate about Monday, or any day in my comments or on your blog. I think I hate saying hate so many times.

Just wanted to share some pictures from the park on this past Saturday.

I'm off to bed. Have a great night.

The imperfect family...

... photo shoot that is. We gallivanted down to the studio today after church for a quick family shot. Unfortunately it didn't go so well. But I did capture some good shots of the kids.

Have you ever tried to be the photographer AND the client at the same time? it's not easy at all.

I am proud that I am finally figuring out the lighting on the white backdrop, it's a bit tricky, but slowly I am getting there.

(I don't understand why, but my images seem lifeless when I post them on blogger and facebook. They look faded and not near as much ummpph! as they appear otherwise.)

We tried taking several pictures as a family... Lauren would scream or cry or get up and walk away. So we just took one without her.

Aren't my babies cute???

Hunter even helped me out with some cute pictures. He'll make a great photographer one day.

I absolutely love these next two shots!

He wanted to take one just me and him... I just love him so much.
You know what he told me?... "I just don't have a great smile!"
Yes you do baby boy!

And last but not least, Lauren said stick a fork in her, she was done!

I am so glad we took these pictures... I am thinking that I will send the first family shot out. How could I not. I know it's not perfect, but in a sense it is. It was the first shot we took, and the only one that's got her in it.

I have more posts to come, so be on the lookout.

Lots of hugs!

In the STUDIO... and news

I have sooooo much news to share. But first, let me introduce you to the newest member of Lauren's entourage... misses Piggy. She is so soft and cuddly. Who could resist her? (If only I had taken this shot with her eyes positioned a bit better). SHE made the trip to the studio last night instead of mr. Bear. Can you believe that? I'm wondering if mr Bear will be replaced soon.

Think of Toy Story
... better watch out Bear.

Lately, we have spent a lot of time preparing the studio for opening... I'm sticking with the game plan of mostly shooting just babies and toddlers, there isn't much option for big people.

I still have a long ways to go, but I will try and get down there tomorrow and take some pictures for you all to see. I have a vision but I need a lot of decorating help. Mostly I need a lot of decorating money. But for folks like me, it's baby steps.

I can't believe that I am ensuing this dream. I never thought it would be possible, but here I am. Making a go at it. So please be thinking of me. I have TONS of photo shoot ideas. It's just a matter of time and people. We plan to do a 'grand opening' sometime in July. I'm joing the chamber of commerce, and hosting a drawing for a free photo shoot the day of the grand opening. I'm hoping it will help bring business to our little town.

I realized tonight that I hadn't been to the studio in a while, so I grabbed Lauren and made a quick run down there to make sure my stuff was still there. Lauren was in her pj's but I tried to grab a few pictures anyways. This is all I achieved.

The other night, my very best friend Terra, and her new princess came down to see us and we tried to make a go at some fun shots.

Before the shoot with Terra, I was messing with the new lights. Leave it up to me to get something new out the day of the event, only to find that both lights wouldn't fire at the same time... ooops! So while I was on the phone, Levi tried to comfort Lauren who decided at that very moment that she needed, no wanted mommy... I couldn't believe when I got these pictures on the computer. I just love them. Everyone always cherishes the happy-smiley photos, but I will cherish these because they say so much.

More good news... well maybe... is that I got my first contact call for a wedding in July. It's outdoors. I can't wait!!! 6 months (more like 6 weeks ago) ago I had sworn off weddings. No sireee! I was not about to do them. But I know these people, they are simple and kind, and I have got to start somewhere... So we shall see.

I also got a call to do some advertising photos for an Auctioneer in April. I think this will be a unique experience.

I may end up just doing it all. I'd almost rather 'specialize' in just one or two things, but my motto for 2009 is "beggars can't be choosers".

Oh yeah, I don't know what will come of it. But Levi and I have discussed saving money the last couple of days, in hopes of taking a cruise in another year or so. We both would love to go to Alaska. Oh mercy me, would I ever! Maybe. Just maybe.

I hope everyone is as pumped for the weekend as I am... Just gotta go see the chiropractor and get my tan on and I am all set!!!

I'll have more coming your way soon!

HUGS!

She's a natural...

I could be wrong, but I believe Lauren is going to be a natural at horse riding. She loves them, and she's not afraid of them. She holds the reins, on her own, while riding, and she has pretty good balance.

I have to share about the first time I met my mom at 15 since I was 3 years old. I had drew these pictures of horses and had pinned them up on my wall... They had been up for a while. When my mom came to see me, she was in awe, because two of the pictures I had drawn, looked a lot like her horses. Shiloh and Annie... it's was crazy. I never knew my mom growing up, but I had (still have) an extraordinaire passion for the huge animals. I love them. I think Lauren does too. I really think sometimes 'it's in your blood'. Like hunting is in my husband's blood... all kinds of hunting. I swore off on marrying a farmer, and I think being a hunter's wife is just as bad. Not quite, but almost! hahaha!

Getting ready for the weekend and seeing 'J' man...

We should be making a trip home soon to get my horse and visit. I was supposed to go home a week ago, and we weren't able to make it. I feel bad about it too... I missed a wedding.

Life is busy as usual.

I wish I was witty and funny and made my blog more interesting.

Sorry, your just stuck with pictures and rambling.

Anyone listen to Gil Gross, the stand in for Paul Harvey? I've got a post coming soon about that, ughhhh!

Have a pretty day!
