messy face, blog layout, and gallbladder update

Well, I am finally feeling like sitting at the computer and giving you an update... I won't say a whole lot tonight:

First, I am home and feeling ok. I'm still a little sore, and like my neighbor put it, feel like a mule kicked me in the stomach. Nothing went right with our trip other than the good food at red lobster. We had a late start, so by the time we checked in, we didn't have any time to swim, and I was absolutely bummed. I felt like a little kid being told no in a candy store. I wanted to swim soooo bad! The next morning, we got a phone call from the hospital at 5:45 asking if we could come in early, the surgery before us canceled. Se we rushed around to get there, and I was prepped and shoved off for surgery by 7:30 am. We were told it was about an hour-hour and a half surgery. So Levi expected me out by 9, 10 at the latest. Finally the dr. came out and told him that he had a hard time getting my to stop bleeding on the right side, and I saw Levi at 11. Wow, coming out of the anesthesia was hard. I think I really got a hold on what was going on around 12:30 or so.

They kept coming in to check on me and give me some pain meds in my iv, trying to get me to convince myself to go home. Finally we left around 3 and headed home. I slept most of the way.

Other things going on: Hunter had his tournament that wasn't really a tournament last Saturday, they lost, but had fun anyways.

The talent show went well. Better than I had expected it too. I had an attendance over 40 and it was a hit. There is a picture below of us in our best. Hunter was a gentleman holding the door open for everyone. And after the show, his fears were eased, and he informed me that next time he would sing with me! I didn't get to play my clarinet as something is wrong with it, so I did a funny monologue that had everyone laughing.

Other than that, I am just trying to heal up and get my house organized... back to normal if there is such a thing.

With the blog layout and it not looking right, I will work on that asap. Until then I'm not sure what to do. I can't understand why it is fine for some and not for others. I have been thinking about switching to wordpress (another blog site) anyways, so we'll see. If someone would send me a screen print of how they see the blog incorrectly, I would appreciate it!

I don't get it!!!!

Porkchops, Steak, and Hunter's 2nd Baseball Game

Question for the day: does my blog have several blank spots in between pictures and such? My dad told me that my blog would have several blank spaced throughout, and it made me wonder if it's that way for other's, let me know.

So our baby is not a Gerber baby, not really anyways. She'd much rather have table food any day of the week. So I cooked pork chops this past week, and I try to get the one with the bones in it, because not only does the love the flavor, but it's great for teething! She goes to town on them!

As for the gerber baby food jars that fill my cabinets, we make the best of them, but aside from the oatmeal with applesauce and bananas, she declines on a regular basis.

Other foods that she really likes includes banana pudding, mac and cheese, steak (see the video below), french fries (of course), grandma's beans and cornbread, mushroom rice, and waffles/pancakes/french toast.

She also loves mommy's creamy coconut snow cones. The first two bites are always hilarious because she's not expecting the coldness, and she gives a funny face.

I think it is so cute every game we go to, I get to see these two pairs of ears! And she really watches the game and what the kids are doing... Everyday that she gets older, Levi gets a little more excited. He really can't wait for the days of riding in the front seat by daddy on the console or standing up (yes I know this is dangerous, but thats the farm life for kids here!) It's a family tradition, ask Hunter. And he always talks about 'going to town to buy pink boots'.

And I know that the day will come that she will want to go with daddy instead of mommy... but thats okay, because mommy likes to go with daddy too, we'll make it a family affair!

I'm personally looking forward to days of riding ponies, braided hair, and chasing goats!But how sad to think that those days really aren't that far away... she's already grown up so much!

So this made me realize that I have not updated everyone on what Lauren does now...

She:

• says 'dada', 'dadeeee', and 'da!' alot (I know she's not really saying daddy, not intentionally anyways, but we let him think she is! hahaha) and babbles constantly...
• definitely is crawling at warp speed!!!
• can open cabinets and doors... I got to spend my sunday evening childproofing my kitchen.
• stands and pulls up on everything, and gets brave and tries to step away by herself. If she would just put her feet down flat, she'd be running right now!
• get's very mad and has an attitude... we call it the 'Pepper-Fry Fits!'...
• waves 'bye-bye' now...
• probably thinks her full name is "No! No! Lauren!"...
• She looooooves dog food! Can you say yummy!...
• plays bashful, even with people she knows...
• absolutely looooves the pool and the lake!
• learns and watches all the time. Grandma comments all the time on how 'smart' she is. She really pays attention and you can just see the wheels spinning in her head when she's 'learning'. She has this look on her face that is just full of 'thinking' expressions.

Hunter played short-stop this time... a lot. I think someone spoke too fast at the last game, because he didn't do as much pitching. Some of it is our fault, mostly because we sent him to baseball camp, and granted it taught him the 'right' way to wind up and pitch, he now cannot pitch like he did at the last game... sooooo somebody has some practicing to do. But he still made some great plays!

The Fry's

Sunday bargains and Fatty Mattie puppy love!

We stopped by Grandmas on Sunday to visit for a bit... Lauren found the Atwood's circular on the floor and decided to check out the bargains. She loves newspapers, phone books, basically any kind of paper. She's fascinated with it and loves to shred it.

Later on, we stopped back by grandma and grandpa's to once again work the garden over and check on it. Hunter likes to run the tiller.

This day Levi decided it was time for our farm dog, Mattie, to come home for the summer. In the past we have tried it, and for one reason or another we would always end up taking her back to the farm. So we'll see how long this lasts...



















































In the mean time, Lauren loooooooves Mattie. She is amazed by her, and I
have to say, Mattie is a good baby entertainer...

We spent the evening sitting in the grass, which Lauren still hates as you can tell, and petting the dog.

Lauren wanted to get closer to Mattie, so she got up on all fours and worked her way over. She actually manages quite well in this position.

























Mattie loves to be petted and caressed. She loves any kind of attention. It's so adorable to see this big 'ol dog love on our tiny baby!

The Fry's!

Was it a tornado? maybe.....

First off, here is a picture from Wednesday night... again more gardening to do!


So Thursday we get hit with some storms, which at first I thought was no big deal. It was Heidi, Hunter, Lauren, and me. I was preparing supper when we got our first round of hail. We watched and talked to Grandma on the phone. She asked if I thought I could get us to her house in case we needed to go to the cellar. About the time we decided to go, the hail quit. So we thought we were good...

Then a second round came through, and we lost our tv signal. I called grandma back to see if she had heard anything or had signal. She had also lost her signal, and about that time, the hail came down again. All I could hear then was:

"Shannon! Get in the bathroom! Shannon get in the bathroom now!!!!"

So I hung up the phone, told Hunter to get in the bathroom and for Heidi to grab Lauren. In the mean time I ran into Hunter's room and yanked his mattress off his bed. I made everyone hunker down on the floor and I threw the mattress up over us. Heidi had brought a blanket around Lauren, and I had grabbed Hunter's comforter, so we all wrapped up and just listened. Dixie figured out something was wrong and she joined us.

Finally it quieted down, and I emerged first. I checked to make sure it had passed and I was sure it had.

At this point we had no idea what happened... I knew it wasn't a tornado, but I knew it wasn't just hail.

Heidi left to go check on her house, and called immediately to tell me about some damage done in town. Well it wasn't much longer Grandma was down to check on us, and we took a drive...


Our town recently built an 'Activity Center' on the East side of town... needless to say the pictures below describe what happened to it. The first two are the debris scattered straight north of it about a half of a mile...

























This is the back side of the activity center. Right about where that truck is, the big beam hanging down is where I recently stood and took livestock show pictures...

This is a picture of what once was an auto garage, it has since been abandoned...


But the next picture below shows it's roof laid over the house directly behind-(north) of it.

Now we didn't experience any terrible damage at the house. Aside from the hail ruining the pain on the south and west side of the house, and some hail dents on our fence, we were fine. Our barn on the west side of town however wasn't so fortunate either. We just put money into the smaller barn for our chickens that we ordered. For the most part, the barn can be saved and repaired. But what you see below was once where our goats and mule had for protection... not no more!




















At this point we still have yet to know if it was a tornado or just strong winds... They have told us that the winds were clocked at over 100 mph. Maybe we'll find out soon! I'm just thankful that no one was hurt or anything like that.

Carousel and Hunter's first game!

WHAT I LOVE ABOUT HUNTER:

His love for spontaneity!

I can say, "hey Hunter!..." and he's game (most of the time). This particular day was a quick run for last minute baseball stuff on the day of his first game. Sentinel's season is almost over, but he's excited to play none the less.

So while in Elk City, we stopped for a much needed snow cone and a trip to the park. They had the carousel open, so we took a ride. We were the only ones, except for a single little boy. We always have to get the 'Indian Horses'. Lauren absolutely loved the carousel... even thought this was her second ride, it was a definite first for her. I have a picture of her there asleep on my chest while riding the carousel back in December while visiting Santa...

<----- This was Lauren's first snow cone though, and she LOVED it. I know I say that a lot, but when she loves something, she really loves it!




















































A second thing I love about Hunter:

His love for baseball!

And he's good at it! No really! I'm not one of those parents who thinks their kid is the best, even when they aren't. But Hunter really has a knack for baseball. He always has. And he takes it very serious. He hates to lose... that's his daddy coming out in him! hahaha!

So he has never pitched before, but he got to today. Apparantly the team didn't really have a very good pitcher, so they tried one boy, and he pitched an inning... then they tried Hunter, and he ended up pitching the next 4 innings. He was so proud! He did pretty good for his first time.

I'm so blessed to have two very good friends in my life, who can play the role of an 'Aunt' in Lauren's life.




































































































So I have a funny story to tell:

While watching Hunter pitch, a lady comes up to me and asks, "Do you know who that boy pitching is?"

I said, "I dunno but he sucks huh?".

And she said, "Nooooo, he's really good, but I've never seen him before!".

Then I let the cat out of the bag. I told her he was my son, and that he was here for the summer. She said she was glad, because it seemed like he was a good ball player. She and I ended up visiting the rest of the evening. In between I had several people comment on how good he was and how they were so happy to hav ea good ball player on their team.

Now if that doesn't make a parents heart swell with joy... I just don't know what will!

The only problem; Hunter KNOWS he's good! hahaha!
